Visually, it looks innocent. But a huge surprise awaits under the hood of what was once a BMW E46 330i.
BMW has never made an E46 3-Series with a V8 engine. At least not in your own name and certainly not for street use. (Although this kind actually exists for the racetrack, ed.)
At first glance, this BMW E46 looks like most of its kind in the production years between 1997 and 2006. Namely with four doors. So far so good.
But don't be fooled. Because it was something of a beast that appeared last year on the American sales portal Bring A Trailer .
Gone is the car's original 3-liter straight six with 231 horsepower. And in its place, someone in its time has put a 6.2-liter V8 engine. And of course not just any 6.2-liter V8 engine.

It is about exactly one that General Motors used to make a Chevrolet Corvette C6 move forward.
That is, a so-called LS3 engine with 465 horsepower and 575 newton meters. And despite quite a few adjustments and the use of 'shoe horns', there was and is actually room for the large, 8-cylinder lump between the front wheels.
The car still has a manual transmission, although the gearbox is now a six-speed Tremec T56. It was also brought over from the Corvette.
The only thing that didn't work when the car changed hands was the traction control. The new owner must therefore be careful with the right foot. Also more than you already have to in an old 3 Series.
It is actually the second time that the car has appeared on Bring A Trailer. The first time was in 2018. At that time, the car had just under 220,000 kilometers. Last year in November, it had risen to 225,000 kilometers.
The price this time, more precisely on November 16 last year, ended up at 26,000 dollars. This corresponds to 179,000 Danish kroner. That's still quite a lot for a 21-year-old BMW.
