Yet another municipality prohibits cars from speeding over 40 km/h

In more and more places in Denmark, the speed that motorists must comply with is being drastically reduced. Rudersdal Municipality is now following suit.

If the cars do not have to leave the Danish cities, they must almost idle. In any case, Rudersdal Municipality has decided to ban anything over 40 km/h in several places.

The municipality itself writes this in a press release .

Officially, however, it is not about bothering motorists as much as possible. Instead, it is an expression that the municipality would like to make inquiries from concerned citizens fashionable.

The citizens, whom the municipality does not mention more specifically, think that there is too much power in Rudersdal. So, after the summer holidays, the municipality begins the establishment of several zones with 40 km/h.

The work, which the municipality is about to start, means that by the end of 2025 there will be a total of 14 areas with signage and new bumps. All to prevent motorists from speeding over 40 km/h.

In a statement on the municipality's website, the chairman of the Climate and Environment Committee in Rudersdal Municipality, Court Moller (B), would like to state why it is necessary to force drivers to drive more slowly.

In all its simplicity, it is about the greater Copenhagen municipality doing it because many other municipalities have chosen to go after motorists in that way.

– We see it in many places in the country, and most recently in Copenhagen Municipality new zones have been introduced where the speed is limited to 40 km/h. It therefore makes good sense that we also in Rudersdal focus on reducing speed in selected local areas, it says.

However, some forces will go even further in pursuit of the drivers than Court Moller will. At Cyklistforbundet, they want transport minister Thomas Danielsen (V) to ban motorists from speeding over 30 km/h throughout Denmark. Read more about it here .
