Woman repeated mistakes – then the police took her car

A 27-year-old woman has lost her car. It has been impounded, even though she was not behind the wheel at all. A 25-year-old man, on the other hand, did.

It has cost a 27-year-old woman from Skælskor a car that she left it to her 25-year-old friend on Monday this week.

The 25-year-old friend, a man, does not have a choir card. However, the lack of right-of-way has not caused him to comply with the traffic law.

On the contrary, the South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police state in the police report that both people – both the car's owner and the 25-year-old – have now repeatedly ended up on the wrong side of the traffic law.

The woman has now three times left the same car to the 25-year-old man without a driver's license. Such a charge costs DKK 2,000 each time.

But the third time is still worse than the first two. Both for the 25-year-old and the female car owner. The law makes it possible for the police to seize the car with a view to confiscation.

An opportunity the police circle made use of. However, it is not from people without a driver's license that the police take away the most cars.

As early as 2022, when the law on speeding was only a year old, the National Police lifted a bit of the lid on their own statistics on that type of motorist. Read more about it here .

Incidentally, it is not the first time that the police take the car from a car owner who does nothing directly wrong in traffic. In September 2023, a then 64-year-old woman had three cars confiscated in court.

It happened because she repeatedly lent the cars to people without a driver's license. In court, it was concluded that the woman did it deliberately. In addition to the state seizing three of her cars, she was ordered to pay the costs of the case and a fine of DKK 7,500.
