Was Denmark's most popular car – now sales are plummeting

The Tesla Model Y was Denmark's most popular car all of last year. But the latest figures reveal that sales are plummeting.

Sales of the new Tesla Model Y have more than halved in Denmark.

In fact, it's down a whopping 52 percent this year when compared to the same period last year, when Tesla sold 4,701 new Model Ys in the first three months.

It has now shrunk to 2,258 copies of the same car model. However, Tesla is still sitting on a solid part of Danish new car sales. Namely 9.5 percent.

This is shown by the latest report from De Danske Bilimportorer.

However, there is a long way to go to first place, which Toyota, with just under 5,000 new cars on Danish roads, has narrowly missed.

If you look up the sales figures for individual car models, it is somewhat surprising that a whole third brand pulled the load. At least in the month of April.

Here, Renault managed to sell 671 copies of the Megane E-Tech, which may, however, be connected to a number of discounts from the importer. Also on lease.

If you look at Toyota's sales in the month of April, it looks a bit more sluggish. The best-selling model is the Yaris Cross with 211 cars. Neither enough for a top 3 or, for that matter, top 5.

The little Japanese is messing around in 15th place. But overall, for this year, things are going best for Toyota.
