Wales is considering dropping the 30km/h speed limit

While several municipalities at home are busy forcing the speed down, the Welsh are now considering dropping a speed ban that was introduced last year.

20 miles per hour or just over 32 km/h.

This is what motorists have to do on large parts of the roads in England. But now these zones may soon be a thing of the past.

This is written by the newspaper The Sun.

Because while Wales, which is part of Great Britain, last year introduced a ban on speeds over 32 km/h across the country, they are now considering lifting the ban.

The debate has arisen after a sea of complaints from motorists. Politicians have also sided with motorists. The Conservatives say the Social Democrat-led Labor government is against all motorists.

– The Welsh people want to be able to get on with their everyday lives, but Labour's lack of investment in public transport, the ban on road building and 20mph speed limits are preventing exactly this.

– We call on the Welsh Labor Government to drop the war on motorists, lift the building ban and the 20mph speed limit. It will get Wales going again, says Conservative politician Natasha Asghar.

According to The Sun, a spokesperson for the government has made it clear that they 'want to listen to' the views on the national speed limit. And that it is a 'top priority' for the government.

Something also suggests that the Welsh are very much against not being allowed to drive faster than 32 km/h. Out of a population of 3.1 million people, 470,000 have signed a citizens' proposal that would abolish the speed limit.

Politicians must look at proposals that receive more than 10,000 signatures. Here at home, 50,000 signatures are needed for a citizen's proposal before it can reach the parliament.
