Waited 8 years for their Tesla – want the money back

Elon Musk told the Indians that they could pre-order the Tesla for 6,500 kroner. But here – 8 years later – no Teslas have arrived in the country.

8 years ago Indians were promised that Tesla would come to their country. They could pre-order the Model 3. But nothing has happened since then. And now the Indians understandably want their money back.

Indians who have pre-ordered a Model 3 have all paid the equivalent of DKK 6,500 in deposit. But the cars never showed up.

And now, with great difficulty, the first customers have got their money back. Among them is Vishal Gondal. He has chosen to use the deposit to order an Audi instead.

But Vishal Gondal is also one of the few who got his money back from Tesla. This is written by the English The Mirror .

Gondal knew someone who tracked down a reportedly very reluctant Tesla dealer in India. But for the remaining drivers in the same situation, according to the newspaper, there are very few chances of getting the money back. Even though it is now 8 years since the cars were promised.

To keep the price down in India, Tesla considered building a factory in the country. The government imposes a lot of import duty on cars that are not locally produced. In 2019, Elon Musk was also on his way to India, and everyone thought it was to launch the idea of a factory in the country.

But at the last moment the visit was cancelled, and since then there hasn't been much to write about Tesla's possible future in the huge country. A presence in India in particular could otherwise help the car brand's declining sales.

After a record year in 2023, Tesla's sales have plummeted. In fact, the brand isn't even in the top 20 anymore. At least not when it comes to new car sales in Europe. Read more about it here .
