At Volvo's factory in Gothenburg, the Swedish-Chinese brand has offered some of its employees Sweden's probably shortest working week of just two days.
Two days. Or 2 shifts of 12 hours.
That's what some of Volvo's people can do at the brand's factory in Gothenburg. The rest of the time throughout the week, they can do as they please outside the workplace.

– Working 12-hour shifts is long and not for everyone.
– But only having to go to work two days a week and have the rest off, that in turn compensates for many, says Michael Blohm, spokesman for the union IF Metall's department at Volvo Cars.
The working week at the Volvo factory in Gothenburg works in such a way that it occupies the employees two weekends each month. They can keep the rest free.
The weekend shift consists of two shifts. One starts work at midnight and stamps out Thursday at 12. The second hold mother in Sunday morning. The weekend employees can also have shorter shifts.
These hours can be put into a so-called 'working time bank' and later used for leisure. According to the trade union club that organizes some of the employees at Volvo Cars, wages at the factory are around SEK 45,000 per month.
This corresponds to just under 30,000 Danish kroner. It is unclear whether other special supplements apply to the weekend employees with very long shifts.
