Video reveals dictator's wild car collection in Syria

Bashar al-Assad has fled to Russia, where he and his family have been granted asylum. In Syria, the dictator has left behind a palace with a wild car collection.

The regime in Syria has fallen. The dictator Bashar al-Assad has fled to Russia, where he has been granted asylum. However, he couldn't bring his crazy car collection with him.

New videos from the uprisings in Syria show how rebel groups have already penetrated the palace and into the basement, which also houses the dictator's private garage.

Here you can find everything from several Ferraris to more common Audis to even more expensive Bentley models. The rebels' tour of the huge garage facility also shows that al-Assad was fond of both Rolls-Royce, BMW and Aston Martin.

Like he owned at least one Lamborghini LM002. So in addition to the Mercedez-Benz SLS AMG, SL65 Black Series, Ferrari F50, Audi R8 and several Toyota Land Cruisers.

It is not known what will happen to the cars now, or whether they have already been smashed by the angry crowd, who were also seen entering behind the palace's outer walls.

It is not the first time that the public gets a glimpse of autocrats' wild car collections. The Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, is known to spend large parts of the state budget on himself. The man is said to have one of the world's – if not the largest – car collections.

Boosted has previously told about the collection. And as recently as December this year, new pictures have appeared from the collection, which include said to comprise 10 of just 106 McLaren F1s ever built.

The Sultan has also paid AMG to make cars that no one else in the world has, e.g. an S-Class as a station wagon. Back in Syria, the al-Assad family should not expect to ever see anything again for either their home or the many cars.

It is not yet known how large a car collection the dictator actually had at his disposal during the 24 years he was in power. But judging from the videos, it takes more than two hands to count it all.
