A truck driver died last Friday on a bridge in the US state of Kentucky. Other drivers in the same accident have been hospitalized with serious injuries.
Friday afternoon at At 12:30 local time, the police and fire department in the city of Louisville in the US state of Kentucky could announce that a truck driver had escaped with his life after a dramatic bridge accident on the George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge.
The rescue operation itself was captured by local TV crews who broadcast live from the scene during the rescue operation.
The cause of the accident remains unknown, but in addition to the truck, three other cars are involved. The people in these cars also had to receive medical attention. Some of them with 'very serious injuries', the police said afterwards.
On the video from the bridge, you can see how a firefighter is hoisted down to the destroyed pilot house to rescue the driver. Something that fortunately succeeded.

Louisville Fire Chief Brian O'Neill was quick to praise his people.
– Those people must have all the credit. Our rescue team took care of the task. This is the kind they train on all the time. In them we really find some heroes.
After the rescue, the lorry driver stayed briefly at a nearby hospital, from where the report said that he was immediately okay.
The same cannot be said about the others involved in the accident. According to the police, two of them were hospitalized with 'serious and life-threatening injuries'.
According to The Drive, the truck was not moved immediately. That is why the bridge was also closed after the accident. The authorities expected to be able to open the bridge at the earliest on Thursday morning.
