Valid from today – all speeds above 80 km/h are prohibited

On the night between Sunday 13 October and Monday 14 October, new signage was put up at the extension of the Hillerod motorway. Now anything over 80 km/h is prohibited.

It is a series of deaths on the extension of the Hillerod motorway that has now caused the Road Directorate to take action against all motorists on the stretch.

Specifically, the speed limit is lowered from 90 km/h to 80 km/h. The signage must be respected immediately.

This is written by the Road Directorate in a press release .

The speed limit of 80 km/h will apply until the work to expand the motorway to four lanes is completed. However, it will not begin until next year.

– The work to replace the traffic signs will take place during the night, and the speed reduction will apply as soon as the signs are visible.

– Today there are more cars on the stretch than it was actually built for, so I expect that the new effort will help to temporarily resolve some of the traffic challenges on the extension of the Hillerod motorway, says head of department in the Directorate of Roads, Maria Lonsmand True.

As part of the new speed limit, Nordsjælland's Police have said that they will step up the checks on motorists. The expansion of the Hillerod motorway is planned to take place between the summer of 2025 and 2027.
