The name makes no sense if you don't know the abbreviation. And now the Toyota Bz4x will also have a new name, says the brand's director in Canada.
Toyota is planning to change the name of its electric SUV, the bZ4x. The current moniker, which stands for "Beyond Zero," has been criticized for being opaque and difficult to remember.
According to Patrick Ryan, regional director of Toyota Canada in Quebec, a name change is in the works.
It is not yet known when the change will take effect. The current model, bZ4x, will retain its name. It is possible that the name change will occur in connection with the 2026 model.
Ryan has not confirmed whether the name change will apply only in Canada or globally, Carscoops reports.
In the United States, all Toyota models, with the exception of the RAV4, have names instead of alphanumeric designations.
It is possible that Toyota will follow this trend and give the bZ4x a more colloquial name.
Subaru, which also builds a version of the maligned Toyota, has chosen to call their version of the car the Solterra. There is no word on whether they will change the name here as well.
Many car manufacturers today use alphanumeric names for their cars. However, these names can be difficult to remember and generally stand out from the crowd.
Hopefully Toyota will find a suitable name for the bZ4x. Because the car has not had an easy start in life. It all started badly when the Japanese found out that the wheels could fall off. Boosted has also told about Danish owners who are more than dissatisfied with the car's ability in cold weather.
