Per Wierod drives around in a 26-year-old Toyota Hiace, so when the importer recalled it under warranty, he had to ask if that was also true.
Toyota cars have a reputation for never breaking down.
It obviously doesn't fit. All cars with moving parts can break. But Toyota's factory warranty is still something special. At least in Per Wierod's case.
He tells this to Norwegian TV2 .
In connection with the statutory periodic inspection, Per Wierod learned that Toyota had recalled the 26-year-old Hiace. An intermediate shaft had to be replaced. So on the warranty.

All this even though the car is from 1998 and has just under 300,000 kilometres. Per Wierod then also had to ask the seer whether he seriously believed that it could be true.
But yeah, the recall is good enough. Per Wierod says that his car is actually a converted van. But that doesn't matter now. A warranty case is a warranty case.
He also adds that he owns two more Toyotas. And that it is not the first fashion he has with Toyota's guarantee. The brand also changed the diesel tank on his Corolla Verso after 270,000 kilometers. There was a risk that the tank could leak, the Japanese said.
Hiace has been and is a huge hit in Norway. In the 36 years the car has been on sale in the country, it has been the best-selling van in 30 of those years. According to TV2 Norge, there are 110,000 copies in the country for the same reason.
At home, the Hiace also has quite a fan base. It caused quite a stir, for example, when Boosted could tell about a model from 1991 with only 490 kilometers on the odometer.
