These license plates were rejected as standing in 2023

You would think that freedom of expression applied in 2023. But in many cases, the Swedes did not notice this on their cars.

There is freedom of speech in both Sweden and Denmark.

But when it comes to the so-called wish number plates, consideration for decency in the public space is paramount.

This is the case in both Denmark and Sweden. And although the Danish Motor Authority has only rejected quite a few number plates in recent years, the situation is quite different in Sweden.

Every year, the Swedish Transport Agency releases a list of rejected license plates. They are simply too stubborn to let anyone run around with them.

Other number plates can also give the impression that a completely different person is behind the wheel. The Swedes, for example, were not allowed to drive around with the number plate 'The Queen', 'The Police' and 'Satan' last year.

More creative quirks were also rejected. Including an old celebrity like '3JOH55A' who is asshole mirrored.

But neither are words like slow, nordet, Tequila, Lort or the more international 'Shit'. Not on Swedish license plates either.

These are words like Gestapo, Dangerous, OMFG, Fucked or OG neither. The same applies to Good Food, Djævlens and Toplos. By the way, one must not write bandits either.

The complete list of number plates rejected by the Swedish authorities last year can be found below:
