The world's wildest car with a manual transmission has 1,842 horsepower

The Hennessey Venom F5-M is the world's fastest car with a manual transmission. Unfortunately, it will only be built in 12 copies.

– We have always wanted to build the Venom F5 with manual gear. And this is something our customers have been asking for, says the founder of the Hennessey car brand, John Hennessey.

And now both the car brand and their customers get their wish fulfilled. Unfortunately only 12 copies. On the other hand, they all have 1,842 horsepower from a 6.6-liter V8 engine with twin turbos.

Enough to make the Hennessey Venom F5-M the world's fastest production car with a manual transmission. And it is doubtful that that record will ever be broken.

– We have always felt that a manual car really connects the driver with the car. Having access to a physical handle on top of the accelerator and brakes and so on only adds to the fun.

– It's something we've always wanted to do, and the customers have asked for it from the beginning, says John Hennessey to Top Gear.

In order for the new Venom F5-M owners to be just a little bit reassured that their cars won't kill them already at idle, all the horsepower is only available in fourth gear.

Apart from that limitation, there really isn't that much security to come by. To say anything at all. Hennessey has succeeded in getting the F5-M approved without airbags. That is, in a car that is type-approved for street use. Yes, so it can have number plates on it.

But the 12 future owners will gladly pay for it. Each and every car costs from 2.65 million dollars, equivalent to 18 million kroner. Unsurprisingly, Hennessey is already reporting that everything is sold out.
