The rare BMW is coming to Denmark for the first time

For the first time ever, a rare collection of BMW's so-called Art Cars is coming to Denmark. Among other things, Andy Warhol's bid for a BMW M1 from 1979.

They've never been here before. But once must be the first, and now BMW's so-called Art Cars are coming to Denmark.

It takes place on the weekend 3-5. May as part of ArtExperience 2024 at the BMW Experience Center in Kgs. Lyngby.

This is stated by the organizer in a press release .

– We are not least looking forward to seeing art rise into a higher unity with technology, when we exhibit side by side Warhol's, Calder's and Koon's art cars, says owner of Art Nordic, Loa Brix.

The first BMW Art Car saw the light of day in 1975, and among the most famous is Andy Warhol's take on a BMW M1 from 1979. That car will also come to Denmark at the beginning of May.

The first ever BMW Art Car does the same – namely Alexander Calder's take on a BMW 3.0 CSL. Jeff Koons BMW M3 GT2 is also part of the exhibition.

The latter is a multicolored beast with a 4-liter naturally aspirated V8 and 480 horsepower. In comparison, the first Art Car, as the name also suggests, has a 3-liter straight six with 206 horsepower.

BMW lives up to its historical heritage with far more than just works of art on wheels. The car brand from Munich, for example, keeps alive a number of old models with brand new parts.

And in 2022, the brand's head of sustainability openly said that people should buy fewer new cars and keep the current ones a little longer. Read more about it here .
