The risk of losing your driving license if you drive with too heavy a load is not just theoretical. It can affect all drivers, say the police in Sweden.
At home, the police have already warned motorists against speeding. Forgetting the safety wire for the trailer is just as bad.
Both parts can cost the choir card. And now Swedish police are issuing a similar warning. However, it is not to scare the life out of motorists who pile up garden waste on Sundays.
– We are not out to prevent people from tinkering in houses and gardens, but when you fill wheelbarrows with gravel and soil, it is very easy for it to become too much, says Swedish traffic police Richard Nilsson to Vi Bilägare .
An in-depth example is then set up with a trailer that basically has a permissible total weight of 750 kilos. And there is nothing to be mistaken about. Overreading can in very glaring cases cost the choir card.

– If we weigh the trailer at 825 kilos, i.e. ten percent over the total weight, you must not drive on. At least we prevent that.
If we weigh the same haul, and the weight is over 30 percent of the permitted total weight, i.e. over 975 kilos, that is the basis for taking the choir card, says Richard Nilsson.
Swedish police, like their Danish colleagues, who within a week took the driving license from eight drivers , defend themselves by saying that it is about security. A trailer that weighs too much can quickly get out of control. And in those situations, drivers are often reduced to passengers.
However, it's not just an overloaded trailer that's a really stupid idea. However, it is also sitting with the phone by your ear. Especially in Norway. Here, the booth for talking on a hand-held mobile phone was set up at the beginning of 2023. And for almost 10,000 kroner. Read more about it here .
