The police found the mistake – what is not allowed here?

For some drivers, it is not just difficult to drive with a trailer. The police found a fault on the trailer itself, which many apparently do

Police in Norway uncovered a serious fault on a trailer during a routine check in The trailer, which was transporting a large number of patio tables, had the load placed on top of the front and rear flaps instead of on the bed itself.

– The load is well secured with straps here. But will smoke forward and into the rear window like a projectile at a sudden stop, says senior engineer Frode Nilsen from the Swedish Road Administration's field control section.

This is written by Norwegian TV2 .

This placement of the load can have fatal consequences, as it can shift when braking or make a sharp turn and create imbalance, which can potentially lead to loss of control over not just the trailer but the entire trailer.

The motorist thus risks becoming a passenger in his own car and thus a greater danger to both himself and other road users.

Unfortunately, the error is common, especially when it comes to the transport of longer objects such as planks or patio tables. Many drivers are not aware that the trailer's front and rear flaps are not designed to hold the load.

In addition, Nilsen pointed out that if the load extends more than one meter to the rear, it must be clearly marked. For example with a plastic bag or a reflective vest.

In this way, the motorist driving the trailer warns other road users about the protruding load. In other words, it is a good idea to keep a slightly longer distance than usual.

However, it is not only placing the load incorrectly that causes problems for motorists. As recently as this summer, the police felt compelled to go out with a raised index finger, stating that the corre card smokes if the load breaks the law. Read more about it here .
