The police are targeting several "creepy" drivers throughout Denmark

They shouldn't be behind the wheel at all. Still, more drug-impaired drivers than before are running into the arms of the police. The explanation is simple, believes the Council for Safe Traffic.

The police are arresting more drivers for drug offenses than before. This shows a data extract from the National Police on charges in the area from 2018 to 2023.

Ritzau writes that.

Chief consultant at the Council for Safe Traffic Pernille Ehlers believes that the explanation is simple. It's about the police getting better at spotting that type of driver.

Unfortunately, the fact that the police are cracking down on several motorists for drug traffic is nothing new. From January to the end of October 2023, Funen Police alone charged 511 motorists with drug trafficking.

In the whole of 2018, that figure was no higher than 511 cases. On the other hand, the figures from the National Police show that the number of cases of drunk driving is also decreasing.

However, this does not mean that the worst drivers are off the roads in Denmark. You just have to look at the number of cases of insane carousel to find out.

Recently, the district court in Næstved, for example, confiscated a particularly potent Audi. It is possibly the first time that the Danish state owns one. Read more about that case here .
