The Motor Authority's huge mistake hits motorists again

Once again, the technique at the Motor Authority has caused undue inconvenience to the Danish car owners, who, however, should not count on an apology.

They have done it for. In fact, it was crazy as recently as July this year, when the Motor Authority collected incorrect taxes from Danish car owners.

And now the authority is doing the same again. According to Ritzau, the Danish Motor Authority's press service informs this.

The error, which means some motorists have paid double the weight tax and/or paid for cars they no longer own, was discovered on 1 October.

But the Motor Authority does not yet have an overview of how much damage the error has caused to motorists. Instead, they apologize that the error occurred in connection with an update of the agency's systems.

According to the press watch, car owners who have paid the wrong charges will get their money back. However, it does not appear from Ritzau's telegram whether it is a repayment with interest. Drivers should not expect to receive an apology either.

All in all, mistakes after mistakes on the part of the authorities have affected motorists in the past few years. But the mistakes can also go beyond the state treasury.

For a long period between 2012 and 2017, the authorities did not collect fees (and taxes, ed.) at all from motorists who simply failed to pay. It was only when a number of media, including DR, revealed the error that the authorities got a handle on the matter.
