The former Le Mans team Glickenhaus is now ready to send the 004 supercar to the streets. The monster, with its 6.2-liter V8 engine, is no cheap entertainment, however.
Glickenhaus, the former Le Mans team, has finished development of the 004S street car. The car is a three-seat supercar with the driver's seat located centrally – known from the McLaren F1.
The American supercar is equipped with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that produces 650 hp and a six-speed manual gearbox.
Production of the Glickenhaus 004, originally planned to take place in Connecticut, has now moved to Roush Performance's factory in Detroit, Michigan. The first cars are expected to be delivered to customers in the first quarter of 2025.
Glickenhaus 004 is available in two versions: 004S and 004CS. Both models are built on a custom-made carbon fiber chassis and are powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine.
An engine that Glickenhaus bought from General Motors. It exists for the same reason is also the Corvette C7 Z06 and Cadillac CTS-V.
Glickenhaus has participated in motorsport for several years with the racing car 004C, and the experience gained from this has been used to develop the street car 004CS.
Compared to the standard 004S model, the 004CS has a modified diffuser, center nut rims and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and larger brakes. As standard, the street car is equipped with a so-called 'nose lift', which lifts the entire front over, among other things, road bump.
004 is marketed as an uncompromising car with a focus on the chore experience. The interior is spartan and lacks some of the features found in comparable supercars.
However, the car has air conditioning and electrically adjustable seats. Like the infotainment system, it supports both Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Something General Motors otherwise refuses to do.
"004 represents everything Glickenhaus stands for. It is a car designed primarily for motorsport, but its transformation into a street car has not entailed the compromises that normally come with a street racing car. It is a real pleasure to drive and use in everyday life," said Nat Mundy, sales director at HK Motorcars, at the car's launch.
Glickenhaus sells the 004S and 004CS exclusively through HK Motorcars in Mount Kisco, New York. The price starts at 450,000 dollars, corresponding to 3.2 million Danish kroner.
