The last Audi R8 ever built

The last Audi R8 has rolled off the assembly line. Unfortunately, Audi has no plans to launch a replacement.

The Audi R8 received a spectacular breath of new life when the brand had to extend production in order to keep up with demand.

But now the order books are closed forever, and the assembly line must be dismantled. The model is a thing of the past, the brand announces.

The last ever Audi R8 was painted in Vegas Gelb before leaving the assembly line at the Böllinger Höfe factory in Heilbronn, Germany.

The brand confirms it to Top Gear .

Thus, the German brand has built its last ever V10 engine. Parts will probably not have to be sent to the Lamborghini factory in Italy either.

Because here it has already been made clear that the last model with a V10 engine, the Huracán, which is the sister car to the R8, will be withdrawn from the program before the end of 2024.

Audi has – perhaps because of the outrageous price – never sold very many R8s. Demand peaked way back in 2008 when the brand sold 5,016 to customers around the world.

But it is now still sad to see – and not least whore – the V10 engine leave this world. Lamborghini will probably not take it with them when the Huracán is to have a replacement.

In any case, the brand already announced last year that it has enough money for the rest of the VAG group to run and jump when it comes to development.

The economic costs in this connection will and can be borne by Lamborghini entirely by itself. But should you have forgotten how the V10 engine in the Audi R8/Lamborghini Gallardo/Huracán behaved, we have included a small clip just below.
