The EU requires this equipment in all new cars from 7 July

There is almost no way around it. From 7 July 2024, all new cars must meet a number of requirements, which means legally required standard equipment

From 7 July 2024, almost no cars can escape the EU's requirements for standard equipment. At least not if they are new.

However, there are quite a few exceptions. For example, the Porsche Cayman GT4 only survives in the EU because it is built in so few copies that it does not have to meet the new requirements. The other Cayman models are discontinued. Read more about it here .

Cars that were built for 7 July and, for example, are in storage at the importers in the various countries, must instead be rebuilt to meet the new set of rules.

Even in a country like Norway, which is otherwise not part of the EU, has chosen to follow the same safety requirements for all new cars. Here, however, we are talking about an exemption period of at most one year. And an exemption from the rules must be sought for each stock car.

But back to the new requirements. One of them has already been mentioned by Boosted. Namely, surveillance in the form of a so-called 'black box'. The equipment that ticks off the seconds immediately before an accident cannot be turned off. But there is more where it comes from.

Here are the new requirements for the standard equipment in cars, vans, buses and trucks:q

For all choir uniforms:

  • Intelligent speed warning – also known as the speed limiter ISA
  • Rear camera or rear sensor
  • Attention sensor – which howls if the driver is inattentive
  • Nod stop signal.
  • Cyber Security Certification

In addition, all cars and vans must have:

  • Roadway assistant
  • Advanced nose brake.
  • Event Data Recorder – also known as "black box".

And all buses and trucks must have:

  • Alarm systems that prevent collisions with pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Tire pressure gauge
