It took 19 years. But now the car above them all in Need for Speed Most Wanted, the BMW E46 M3 GTR, also exists in the real world.
BMW and game developer Electronic Arts have collaborated to recreate a digital classic: the BMW M3 GTR from the 2005 game Need for Speed: Most Wanted .
The iconic car has been added to the latest installment of the series, Need for Speed: Unbound , as part of the "Vol 9: Prepare for the Lockdown" update, which is now available.
As part of the project, BMW has created a special edition of the E46 M3 with a paint job that reproduces the well-known sol-blue design from the car in the game. From November 27 to January 6, the car can be experienced at the BMW Welt exhibition center in Munich, Germany.
– The M3 GTR model is one of the most recognizable cars in the history of the Need for Speed series, so for the 30th anniversary we wanted to do something special," says John Stanley, senior director at EA responsible for Need for Speed: Unbound according to the BMW Blog .
In addition to the M3 GTR, the update also features another BMW new to the game series: the BMW S 1000 RR motorcycle.
