Tesla withdraws from important list for motorists

Tesla and at least one other car brand are now withdrawing from the publicly available lists of car sales in Australia. It is probably happening in protest against the country's government.

At home, it is the interest organization that publishes the car brands' sales figures from month to month. Something that anyone and everyone can follow along with.

This is also the case in Australia. Or at least until now. Because Tesla and at least one other car brand that Volvo just cut ties with won't be around anymore.

In fact, the car brands have already withdrawn their sales figures from the list. This is in protest against the fact that the government in the country has proposed new emission standards and requirements, which have, however, been watered down again.

That's what Carsales.com.au writes.

The same has also happened in both the EU and the USA. But Tesla has more to shoot for, they believe. Because the government's watered-down proposal is not the only thing that is lagging, believes the American brand.

Tesla also accuses the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, which is Australia's answer to the car importers' interest organization at home, of a lack of 'transparency'.

In fact, the changes have already taken effect. Because even though Tesla is one of the absolute most popular car brands in Australia, the brand does not appear on the official sales lists anymore.

According to Australian media, Tesla did not want to comment on the decision. But Carsales.com.au learns that the brand intends to disclose sales figures to the Electric Vehicle Council instead.
