Free. And then the above-mentioned forever. That's what Tesla is currently luring drivers with to sell some S and X models.
Tesla is reintroducing lifetime free Supercharger charging to boost sales of Model S and Model X in the US.
To entice customers, Tesla is now offering free charging on its Supercharger network to all new buyers of the Model S and Model X, including the Plaid editions. However, the offer is only valid for the first owner of the car and is not transferable upon resale.
The car brand writes this on CEO Elon Musk's social media "X" – the former Twitter.
Unlike previous promotions where free charging was time-limited, this offer is valid for as long as the original buyer owns the car. However, Tesla reserves the right to withdraw the offer if the owner fails to comply with the payment terms associated with charging.
The seemingly generous offer is linked to a number of very strict restrictions. For example, it does not apply to fleet purchases of Teslas for commercial use, such as taxi services or delivery services.
The owner remains responsible for any additional fees when using the Supercharger stations, such as stalls for blocking charging points if the car occupies a charging point even after it has finished charging.
Tesla has used similar promotions to successfully boost sales in the past. This time, however, the free charging offer is permanent. At least for the original buyer. "Customers are eligible for free Supercharging for as long as they own the vehicle," Tesla writes on its X account.
It's worth noting that the offer is only valid in the US and does not include other costs associated with charging, such as parking fees or local rates.
Here in Denmark, Tesla also offers free supercharger charging. But it's not as permanent as in the US. Read more about it here .
