Tesla closes German factory after arson attack

On Tuesday morning, Tesla's factory on the outskirts of Berlin was exposed to an arson attack. According to the media, environmental activists are believed to be behind it.

A spokeswoman for Tesla in Germany stated on Tuesday morning that production has stopped and all employees have been evacuated from the area.

It is happening because of a power failure at the factory, which is presumably due to an attack aimed specifically at Tesla in Germany.

This is written byAutomobilwoche .

The fire service was called out to the factory at 05.15 this morning. However, it has also been necessary to call the ammunition clearance service, as a sign with the text 'ammunition buried here' was found near the factory.

According to Tesla, production will not start again right away. However, the police will not comment for the time being on a possible connection between the assassination and a group of environmental activists who are currently on the back of Tesla in Germany.

A few days ago it emerged that the activists have occupied a forest near the factory. The activists who oppose an expansion of the Tesla factory fear that the forest will be cut down precisely because of the expansion.

Tesla also has really big expansion plans in Germany. Right now, the factory can build 500,000 cars a year. Tesla would like to be able to double that number. But it requires, among other things, more space.

However, the plans do not only face opposition from activists. There is also resistance among the local population. Among other things, because people fear the waste water from the factory. Read more about it here .
