Tesla builds a new car every 45 seconds in Berlin

It is the first time ever that someone from the outside with a camera has been welcomed inside Tesla's factory in Berlin, where a car is completed every 45 seconds.

Tesla's so-called Giga Factory on the outskirts of Berlin is usually closed to journalists and cameramen from outside.

But for the first time since the factory opened in 2021, the brand has made an exception. Among other things, it has given the people behind the Fully Charged Show on Youtube an insight into how the Model Y is assembled.

Examples of the car, which is Denmark's most popular both now and throughout last year, leave the assembly line every 45 seconds. Among other things, says Tesla, because they have succeeded in eliminating a lot of unnecessary steps in the process.

– We deleted a lot of processes which are not really necessary for the customer either, and this gives us the opportunity to, for example, build a longer painting line, says the person responsible for the painting workshop.

For Tesla in Germany, it is absolutely central that the painting part of the factory, the so-called gigacasting and general efficiency is the most important thing at the factory.

– What you see here is the biggest casting in the world. Normally, the rear of a car consists of 70 to 100 parts, says Pieter-Bas Bentinck, who is responsible for the stacking. So the so-called gigacasting.

According to the Tesla people in Germany, their work has reduced the final price of cars considerably. Nevertheless, Tesla in Denmark has just raised the price of the Model 3. However, this must be seen in the context of the punitive tariff that the EU has just hit China with.

The Tesla Model 3s that drive around Denmark are actually built at the brand's factory in Shanghai. The customs duty means that the Model 3, which is Denmark's second most popular car, has become 11,000 kroner more expensive.

Tesla is not the only one who has let a camera into a car factory in the past. Nissan would also like to share how to restore Skyline models to factory specifications. See more about it here .
