Tesla adjusts ceiling Elon Musk joined in 2018

Elon Musk already raised in 2018 that Tesla would send a cheap basic model on the street 'in three years'.

Inside, Tesla has significantly reduced the price in the past year. But the car brand does not really have a cheap car on its programme.

A car Elon Musk otherwise promised would 'come in three years'. That is, in 2018. At that time, Elon Musk said that the car would cost around 25,000 dollars in the United States. It can be exchanged for 171,000 Danish kroner today.

Since then, nothing has really happened. But now Reuters writes that Tesla has asked its suppliers to bid on just such a cheap car project.

According to the news agency, Tesla is aiming for a production of 10,000 cars per week, when the low-cost car – which will probably be named Model 2 – is a reality.

The cars are to be built at two of Tesla's factories. Namely the one in Texas and so far the brand's only European factory located just outside the German capital Berlin.

Sources tell Reuters that the first examples of the Tesla 'Model 2' will be able to get asphalt under the wheels as early as June next year.

Right now, the cheapest factory-new Tesla is a Model 3, which costs from approximately DKK 340,000 here at home. In fact, it is so 'cheap' that no registration fee still has to be paid for the purchase.

It was decided by a majority in Christiansborg shortly before New Year. However, that arrangement applies to all electric cars under DKK 436,000.
