If you have a driving license for category B, i.e. ordinary passenger car, the Swedes will allow a significantly higher total weight from 1 July.
It is very soon the end of taking into account a total weight of 3,000 kilos. At least with a correcard for a passenger car in Sweden.
From 1 July 2024, the Swedish authorities will raise the permitted total weight to 4,250 kilos. The government says that the rules are being changed to bring the heavier electric cars in particular into vogue.
As the choir card rules are now, the Swedish infrastructure minister believes that they stand in the way of the green transition.
– The lack of drivers with authorization to drive heavier electric cars is an obstacle to the radical restructuring of the transport industry.

– With this decision, where new rules will be in place for a trial period as early as 1 July, the electrification of freight transport will be facilitated by more drivers being given the opportunity to drive heavier electric cars, says the minister in a press release .
The Swedes are thus well ahead of the EU's general plans to change the choir card rules. Here, too, it will be looked at whether the permitted total weight on a B choir card needs to be changed.
Other proposals such as banning the youngest drivers from driving at night and limiting the speed of cars according to the driver's driving license category.
