Sweden is heavily criticized for selling diesel at DKK 11.

Sweden's government is now heavily criticized for allowing diesel in particular to be sold below 11 Danish kroner. Car buyers do not know what to invest in, say industry associations.

Sweden's government and the Sweden Democrats have put forward a proposal that will lift the so-called reduction obligation. This means that more biofuel must be added to ordinary petrol and diesel.

This makes fuel more expensive for the end users, i.e. motorists. But in order to get motorists into fashion, Sweden's government will lower the tax on fuel further. But that wobbly course is poorly connected, is the criticism now coming from several industry associations.

This puts drivers in Sweden in a kind of no man's land, where no one really knows which type of car they should invest in.

That is what Svenska Dagbladet writes.

– I can get angry that politicians seem to understand that in order to build nuclear power plants you have to work with a time horizon of several years. But the same should apply to petrol and diesel.

– But here the rules are changed more or less annually, says Nils Hannerz, director of economic policy at IKEM, a trade association for chemical companies and refineries, to the newspaper.

There is also criticism of the government's proposal from the political side. The Center Party directly calls the government's proposal a 'climate hoax' and an attempt at number manipulation. And the Green Party believes that the proposal is frivolous.

Regardless of what the critics say, there is no indication that fuel will actually become more expensive in Sweden. At least not for the time being, believes the director of the Swedish part of the Ingo chain.

On the other hand, fuel prices continue in only one direction at home – namely upwards. Despite higher taxes, which were introduced on 1 January this year, the taxes will rise again on 1 January 2025.

The periodic taxes on cars are also on the rise. Neither electric cars nor vintage cars can escape here. The vintage cars will also increase quite violently towards 2026. Read more about this here .
