Survey: Women clearly make the most dents in cars

According to a new report from Finance Norway, there is something to discuss. Women make the most dents in cars. The development cannot continue, says the insurance company.

According to a new report from the industry organization Finans Norway, women are responsible for the most injuries in traffic.

December is a particularly vulnerable month, where Christmas stress, darkness and slippery roads contribute to an increase in the number of accidents. Many of these situations could be avoided if drivers were more attentive.

The statistics from Finance Norway show that in December last year alone, 52,722 claims were reported to the insurance companies.

This corresponds to 1,700 accidents every day this month. These damages cost a total of over 850 million Danish kroner, and the development only seems to be going in the wrong direction.

According to Roger Ytre-Hauge, motor manager at Frende Forsikring, the number of injuries increased by 12.5 percent from December 2022 to 2023, while the cost of repairs increased by 20 percent.

He points out that the combination of time pressure and challenging road conditions is a dangerous cocktail.

– The common denominator is Christmas stress, which takes us completely. We don't have enough time, and on top of that there are bad choir conditions. It is a bad mix for road safety, says a press release .

A survey carried out by Norstat for Frende Forsikring shows that almost 40 percent of the respondents have caused damage to cars.

According to the report, women and drivers in their 40s in general are the groups most frequently involved in this type of accident. It is often situations such as rear-end collisions, damage in parking lots and problems when backing up that fill the statistics.

Ytre-Hauge emphasizes that all drivers have a responsibility to contribute to fewer accidents.

– It is you and me who ultimately pay for it through higher insurance premiums. Everyone must do their part to reduce the number of dents, he says.

He also encourages people to follow the conditions, pay attention and take their time, especially in parking lots.

December shows again how important it is to be alert behind the wheel. If more drivers took this responsibility seriously, both expenses and damages could be significantly reduced.

When it comes to traffic accidents, there are actually numbers for the most part. Also which car brand the drivers who make the most dents prefer. Read more about it here .
