Study: Tesla owners are the most hated in traffic

A new study from England shows that the drivers most people hate in traffic are Tesla owners. Volkswagen owners are almost as unpopular.

You won't find more unpopular drivers than Tesla owners.

At least not according to a new, English study from the car rental company Big Motoring World.

The survey, which asked about drivers' attitudes towards owners of cars from the biggest brands, leaves Tesla owners hanging out in the cold.

In fact, they – that is, Tesla owners – are both more unpopular than Audi and BMW owners – who are otherwise known for never blinking and driving too close to everyone else.

But three out of five – among the representatively selected 2,000 drivers – say that Tesla owners are the ones they would bid on the second least or even the least.

Tesla owners are the ones most drivers hate

Less than 3 percent of drivers in the survey say that among all the major car brands, they care most about Tesla owners.

It is worth noting, however, that the investigation has been published at the same time that Tesla's CEO is receiving heavy criticism for interfering in both American and international politics.

Another survey, which This is Money refers to, shows that seven out of 10 adults in England completely reject the idea of owning an electric car after Elon Musk's controversial public appearances.

The billionaire, who is the world's richest man, has expressed everything from his support for the German AfD party to using his social media account X to attack the incumbent British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Musk has also spent more than $250 million to get Donald Trump re-elected as President of the United States. Musk has also said that he will support the Maga movement with a frighteningly large amount of millions. Read more about it here .

The owners of these car brands are the most hated in traffic:

1. Tesla

2. Volkswagen

3. Mini

4. Land Rover

5. Mercedes-Benz

6. Jaguar

7. BMW

8. Fiat

9. Ford

The result that Big Motoring World came up with was highlighted by one of the respondents, who directly pointed to Elon Musk.

– I think the cars are nice, but I could never dream of buying one of them because I wouldn't be able to bear the shame of it.

The vast majority of participants in the survey described Tesla owners as extravagant. But not all drivers have anything against Tesla.

In Norway, the brand is once again the most popular, and in both England and Ireland, sales increased by 20 percent during the month of February.

And while some used car dealers say it's hard to get rid of Teslas these days, others report that they're selling used Tesla models like never before. Read more about it here .

If we look again at how drivers describe the owners of the different brands, BMW owners are 'arrogant', Fiat owners are reasonable. The same goes for those who drive Fords.

Land Rover owners are the mature types, and Audi owners? Yes, according to the Big Motoring World survey, they are also some arrogant types.

Ian Hajyzamanali, head of marketing at Big Motoring World, believes that people often attribute certain characteristics and demographics to drivers based on the car they own or drive.

"The British have long had a habit of associating certain car brands with specific stereotypes," he says.

– The results of the survey have both proven and disproved many of these stereotypes, showing that people can also change their attitudes.

– It's all a bit of harmless fun. But people's attitudes are often rooted in the image and history of cars, which means that certain stereotypes can often be associated with brands for several generations at a time.
