It's not every day, after all, that one of Hollywood legend Steve McQueen's private choir dresses turns up. This Shelby Cobra appears to be the exception that proves the rule.
Steve McQueen is probably best known for driving a Ford Mustang through the hilly streets of San Francisco. But privately he shorted the Shelby Cobra.
At least between 1965 and 1967. 57 years later, the car will go under the hammer at the Mecums auction house. It happens in connection with Monterey Car Week, which is always in mid-August.
The auction house expects the car to fetch somewhere between 1.2 and one and a half million dollars. This corresponds to just under 10.4 million Danish kroner if the waves are at their highest.
The car with serial number 'CSX2161' doesn't have a long way to go in its total of 71 years either. In fact, it has only become 27,554 kilometres. However, this is not a completely original Cobra.

Or yes. But it has both been repainted and has had the entire interior replaced. When McQueen toured the car, it was sun gray with ragged leather seats. It was then painted black and sent to a new owner in Switzerland before it returned to the US.
And now we said that a McQueen car offered for sale in full public belongs to the rarity. And that's pretty much it. But still, it happens from time to time that cars with current or former owners who are celebrities appear.
