The head of it all at Stellantis, Carlos Tavares, is very upset that cars built in the USA have to be repaired as soon as they leave the assembly line.
It could go better for Stellantis in the US. Especially on the assembly lines. In fact, the quality is often so poor that it has pissed off the boss.
The group's managing director Carlos Tavares tells Auto News in an interview that he is tired of seeing cars leave the assembly line only to be slowed down in the subsequent quality control.
Because the quality is often not there at all. At least not on the assembly line. The cars – for example the RAM 1500 – can be affected by problems the moment they leave the factory.
It is both expensive and time-consuming for Stellantis to correct when these types of cars are not completed and problem-free.

– When you repair something after the assembly line, you can always be sure that it just creates another problem, says Carlos Tavares.
In the interview, the former Renault director acknowledges that some of the factories in the US are not working well. And that 'it is something we need to talk to the sub-directors about'.
The concessions were made to a number of journalists after it emerged that the part of Stellanti's earnings that makes a profit has fallen by as much as 48 percent in the course of the first half of 2024.
Since the bad accounting became public knowledge, Stellanti's car dealers – and especially those in the US – have complained that the prices of the cars are too high.
Furthermore, the dealers believe that they cannot get the cars home that the customers are looking for. Even though Stellantis has the highest number of stock cars in the entire US.
