Speed control has now been introduced on the Storebæltsbroen

It should have been activated a long time ago. But now you finally can get speeding tickets in the Storebæltsbroen.

Motorists can meet speed cameras many places in Denmark. The police have both stationary speed cameras, a number of speed cameras different places and now also speed traps on the Storebæltsbroen.

The equipment that measures the average speed should really have been installed a long time ago. But now it is here.

This is written by Bil Magasinet .

– The background is that we have recently introduced wind-related traffic restrictions, which means that several types of vehicles can’t pass the bridge when the wind is strong.

– The new traffic restrictions came into effect at the beginning of November 2023, says Sund & Bælt’s communications manager Lene Gebauer Thomsen.

The speed control stretches over 16 kilometers from Knudshoved to the payment booth in Halsskov. But even though the stretch is divided into three zones, motorists should only expect to get one speeding ticket.

The speed cameras are marked in yellow. This should make them more visible to motorists. It is the first time that a check of motorists’ average speed in this way has led to stalls in Denmark.

But at the South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police, to whom Sund & Bælt sends the photos of the speeding drivers, it is stated that they have already received 50 cases. There are also plans to introduce a similar control in the Øresund Tunnel towards Sweden.
