It is both expensive and stupid. Even so, several motorists cheat their way over the Storebæltsbroen every single day, according to Sund & Bælt.
Every single day, motorists cheat over the Great Belt Bridge, even though the toll system should actually prevent it.

In relation to FDM, Sund & Bælt does not wish to relate to – or at least not to inform about – how this can happen.
But Jens Kjær Nielsen, head of the toll system at Storebælt, emphasizes that it is difficult to cheat the system.

– Our barrier system makes it difficult to cheat, because our cameras subsequently identify the customers, so they are always detected, he says.
When motorists try to cheat their way through the toll booth, the police are immediately called. But if the police cannot stop the driver immediately, the bill for crossing the bridge illegally will be sent later. But the bill also includes a fee of DKK 600.
But that's not all. Because the police also send a fine of 2,000 kroner in such cases, so crossing the Great Belt without paying is therefore a very expensive affair. Also significantly more expensive than even the most expensive payment method – namely cold cash.
Sund & Bælt – or A/S Storebælt – informs FDM that for every 25,000 motorists who legally drive over the bridge, there is one who tries to cheat.
In 2023, there were 13.6 million 'customers' across the Great Belt. This corresponds to one and a half cars trying their luck every single day. In other words, cheating.
The cheaters are also in such an absolute minority that no new measures are introduced to prevent them from cheating. It will only bother drivers on the bridge even more.
