Several parties will stop more motorways in Denmark

Several parties now want the government to drop a motorway around Copenhagen. The government is not averse to the idea, says the minister.

Several parties want the government to take action in the case of the Ring 5 motorway. Radikale Venstre, SF, Det Konservative Folkeparti, Enhedslisten and Alternativet have tabled a motion to remove the land reservation and stop the plans for the motorway in the transport corridor.

This is written by the Alting .

The area reservation for Ring 5 has been a hotly debated topic for years. Partly because the plans for more motorways have been there for 51 years without anything happening.

Different parties have tried several times to have the project dropped, as it has met with opposition from citizens who live near the planned motorway.

In 2022, the Road Directorate published analyzes of the project. The analyzes led a majority in the Danish Parliament to support a repeal of the land reservation.

However, a new government managed to be formed before the proposal was adopted. In the current government foundation, it is stated that the government will follow up on the Road Directorate's analyzes and discuss the matter with the other parties in the Folketing.

Morten Dahlin, minister for cities and rural areas, has stated that the government does not rule out removing the land reservation. He understands the citizens' frustration and says that the government is aware of the matter.
