Resign voluntarily and get paid for it. This is what the car group Stellantis is saying at the moment to a number of its employees.
The world's fourth largest car group, Stellantis, is currently offering its permanent employees at the factories money to quit.
The news comes less than a week after CEO Carlos Tavares publicly threatened to shut down the group's unprofitable car brands.
This has caused the outside world to speculate as to which car brand will smoke first. However, many believe that if something happens, a brand like Lancia stands for it first. Others believe that Maserati may be sold off. Read more about it here.
Back at Stellantis' factories in the USA, it is not the first time that so-called 'voluntary severance schemes' have been set up. The same thing happened in November last year, when the number of positions had to be cut by 6,400.

It is Automotive News that writes that the Stellantis management has sent out a new email on July 30 with a new offer of voluntary resignations.
It is unclear exactly how many employees Stellantis wants to get rid of. But the group is reportedly ready with a more specific offer to the employees who want to resign voluntarily, later in August.
Stellantis are not the only ones who want to pay their employees to leave their positions. After more than a month of conflict with unions over wages and employment conditions, Ford made a similar offer in November. Read more about it here .
