Google's self-driving car service isn't exactly on the fast track. Now all Waymo cars have to be updated after a bizarre accident – actually two.
Two of the Google service Waymo's cars recently hit the same pickup truck in the American city of Phoenix, and even very shortly after each other.
The accidents, which Waymo itself reported to the US authorities, now prompt a software recall.
CNN writes that.
The accidents happened just minutes apart when a pickup was towed away after failing. And it was the damaged car whose front was facing the direction of the intersection that the two self-driving Waymo cars collided with.

The Google service explains that the cameras in the self-driving cars 'mistaken' the pickup, which they thought would turn.
After the accidents, Waymo informed local police and traffic safety authorities that it would now recall the self-driving cars' software.
The change hastened all Waymo cars in late 2023 and early January 2024 to be updated.
Waymo themselves believe that it reflects how seriously they take their responsibility when they themselves inform the authorities about the error and the subsequent correction.
However, not everyone is excited about Waymo. Recently, a Waymo-owned, self-driving Jaguar I-Pace was vandalized by an angry mob. Read more about it here .
