Motorists are turning their backs on electric cars, at least those from the Volkswagen group, writes the media.
Volkswagen's quarterly accounts are not encouraging reading.
At least not in the executive corridors in Wolfsburg, where you would like to see the brand exclusively build electric cars as early as 2033. In fact, the bosses aim to get rid of the combustion engine completely.
There's just not really anyone biting on Volkswagen's electric car program. At least not enough. In fact, the number of delivered electric cars fell during the first three months of the year.

And it was particularly bad in Europe. If you add up the entire Volkswagen Group, just a little more than 74,000 new electric cars rolled out on the roads between January and March this year.
On the other hand, Volkswagen reports an order book with momentum. In Western Europe alone, the number of orders increased by 154 percent. This corresponds to 160,000 cars. But it is far from the same as delivered cars.
And not all of the VW Group's factories have the same amount of work to do. At one of the last two remaining car factories in all of Belgium, 371 employees were recently fired.
