However, the explanation is relatively simple. GMC only managed to sell two new Hummer EVs in the entire first quarter of 2023.
The legendary Hummer was reborn as a street car in November 2021.
But even though the car, which now only runs on electricity, has up to 1,000 horsepower, things are looking bad with both the order books and sales in general.
Or does it? Figures from the USA show that sales of the Hummer EV went up by as much as 83,000 percent in the course of the first quarter, which we have just come out of.
The explanation for the numbers is, however, quite simple. In the same period a year ago, GMC sold only two copies of the Hummer EV.

On the contrary, per 31 March 2023 already succeeded in selling 1,668 Hummer EVs. Having said that, getting the cars out on the road isn't exactly going fast.
In all of 2023, GMC sold only 3,260 GMC Hummers. This figure the car brand can match and maybe even surpass this year. But hardly with 83,000 percent.
Among other things, because the new Hummer is a furiously expensive affair. Both versions in the model program cost from 98,845 dollars. This corresponds to 680,000 Danish kroner.
The car with the three electric motors, which together deliver 1,000 horsepower, is of course even more expensive. Here the price starts at 106,000 dollars, corresponding to 730,000 Danish kroner.
And although several American brands plan to make the trip across the Atlantic to Europe – and thus Denmark – GMC is not one of them. Therefore, we should not expect to see the Hummer EV for sale here either. At least not officially.
