Renowned German gives the BMW M5 Touring 800 horsepower

BMW has only just presented the first new M5 Touring in 15 years, because the German tuner Manhart is ready to throw himself on the car.

Manhart has just unveiled the first upgrade package for the latest generation BMW M5, called the MH5 800E.

The upgrade comes only a short time after BMW presented the new M5 in both sedan and station wagon versions. The MH5 800E focuses on improving both the car's appearance, chassis and performance for those who want something more distinctive than the standard model.

As for engine performance, Manhart will change the BMW M5's 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, but will leave the electric motor intact.

This means that the total output from the car's plug-in hybrid system will be raised from the original 727 to 800 horsepower.

Although this power is significant, it does not reach the 915 horsepower (683 kW / 928 PS) that Manhart's tuned version of the previous M5, the MH5 900, achieved.

The previous model was not electrified, indicating that Manhart may have more plans up its sleeve for future upgrades. In other words, the Germans limit themselves.

Design-wise, Manhart has published rendering images showing the MH5 800E in both G90 sedan and G99 estate versions.

Among the changes are a new front splitter, side skirts, a more eye-catching rear diffuser and a larger rear spoiler. There will also be the option of adding a carbon fiber bonnet design.

The car is equipped with Manhart's "Concave One" rims with six double spokes. The example shown in the pictures has the rims in silk matt black with gold detailing which matches the rest of the car's gold paintwork on the black bodywork.

While Manhart hasn't given details on upgrades to the car's chassis, they have confirmed that new suspension solutions will be offered that will lower the car and give it a lower ground clearance.

In addition, spacers will be used to ensure that the wheels fit better with the wide fenders, which already give the M5 a more aggressive appearance on the asphalt.

Prices for the entire MH5 800E package as well as for the individual components have not yet been announced. However, the price for a set of Concave One rims with tires is between 3,870 and 7,200 euros, corresponding to up to 53,000 kroner, depending on the rim size.
