Recalling 750,000 cars that have problems with children

Honda has to go into a bigger recall because several cars can have a problematic sensor all the way up to the airbag which can go off without warning for the same reason.

A loser is never nice to meet. But it can save lives, which more than justifies the explosion it leaves behind.

That being said, an airbag should only explode when there is a real need for it. And right now Honda/Acura are fighting with hundreds of thousands of airbags that can go off by mistake.

The fault is due to a bad sensor in the front passenger seat. In cars with these kinds of defective sensors, the airbag can be deployed when a car seat is placed in the seat.

Reuters writes that.

According to Honda, short circuits can occur in the sensor's circuit board. And that's enough to trigger the sensor at the wrong time.

The good news is that the individual car may already be aware of the fault before the airbag goes off. A defective circuit board can also trigger the light in the airbag lamp.

The flashing lamp has so far alerted Honda to 3,834 cars with the problem. But you take no chances and therefore check almost 1 million cars for the fault.

Honda itself says that the sensor error can be traced to 16 different models built for the North American market between 2020 and 2022. Civic Type R year 2021.

However, printed circuit boards are not the only thing currently causing Honda problems. Last year, the car brand said it feared having to pay tor for spare parts in connection with another recall. Read more about it here .
