Recalling 261,000 cars that could catch fire for the second time

Volkswagen has to go through a major recall on the North American market because a leak in the fuel system could cause the cars to run off again .

It is a recall of the big ones, which Volkswagen now has to deal with. This time, however, it is not because of diesel fraud on the domestic market in Germany.

Instead, the brand and the US traffic safety authorities have found that there may be a leak at the fuel pump.

That's what Automotive News writes.

That, says Volkswagen, concerns more than 261,000 that now need a trip to the workshop. In addition to Volkswagen's own Golf and Golf GTI year 2015 to 2019, the recall also affects the Audi A3 of the same years.

It is far from the first time that the Volkswagen group has had trouble with problematic fuel pumps. The Germans had exactly the same problem in the US back in 2016.

At the time, more than 110,000 cars were recalled. But now Volkswagen has also found out that the fuel pumps that were replaced 8 years ago are not durable enough either.

Volkswagen are not the only ones who have recently had to recall an awful lot of cars. A brand recalled 2.6 million cars just before the New Year and is now afraid to lobby for spare parts. Read more here .
