Recalling 250,000 cars that can catch fire

Mercedes may have problems with a number of fuses in about a quarter of a million cars. Therefore, the brand now announces that the cars must go to the workshop.

Mercedes may have a problem on its neck that cannot be solved with a software update.

In fact, the problem is so serious that Mercedes estimates the cars could catch fire. Specifically, the brand has traced the problem to 250,000 cars. Of these, more than 37,000 cars are driving around Germany.

This is written by Automobilwoche .

According to the media, which has found the recall in the German authority database KBA, it concerns the models AMG GT, C-class, CLA, E-class, EQE, EQS, GLC, S-class and SL.

All the cars were built last year. But Mercedes has found that some of the fuses that the brand has equipped the cars with may not meet the current requirements.

In the worst case, the defective fuses can mean a fire in the cars or engine failure. In any case, Mercedes cannot rule out the risk.

Therefore, the German brand has now taken the precaution of replacing the specific fuses. This is confirmed by a Mercedes spokesperson.

Depending on how many fuses are involved, Mercedes' technicians will have to spend between 2.5 and five hours per car. The work is at Mercedes' expense.
