Rare Honda CRX found in Sweden – short 5,000 km in 35 years

One of the first cars Honda equipped with VTEC technology – variable valve timing – was the small Civic CRX. This specimen has hardly moved in 35 years.

Imagine the following scenario: You buy a brand new car in 1989, when the money was worth more, only to leave it standing. No right?

But yes, that is exactly the case for this now 35-year-old Honda Civic CRX. The first and so far only owner has just 5,000 kilometers on the car.

At least that's how the story of the car begins in the ad on the Swedish site Bidders Highway.

This is the same as 142 kilometers per year. So since 1989. And despite the fact that the car was built in 1989, it is actually quite nicely equipped. Sports seats, electric windows and an electric sunroof are available here. It has not been free in the late 1980s, even though the Swedes get away with tax more cheaply.

The reason why more kilometers have not been put on the car over the years is perhaps one of the more obvious. And yet. Because according to the ad, the car is the first of the owner's CRXs. A car which has since founded a collection of the model.

The almost pristine car is not quite perfect, however. There has reportedly been a small dent on the right front fender. In addition, the original rims are missing.

On the other hand, all inspection reports and other history come with the car, which is also equipped with an alarm. The little Japanese was taken off the roads in 2011, and must go through a service before it can hit the roads again.

Barn finds like this may not be the order of the day. But over the years, the Boosted editors have piled up so many stories that we've created a whole category full of them. Dive into it all here .

Here at home, a quick search shows that there are 24 Civic CRXs left. At least on records. The rest have either been deregistered, scrapped or ended up as export goods.
