Rare Ford found after 15 years – stood among dead animals

Both a protective suit and a mask were necessary when this Ford GT was unearthed after 15 years in oblivion and among dead animals.

If you've even searched for anything car-related on YouTube, you also know who Ed Bolian is. Now he has managed to find a rare Ford GT.

The abandoned GT had, because Ed caught sight of it, stood idle for a full 15 years. It also meant that over time it had been joined by various animals.

Some of them had allowed themselves to die next to the car. So the decay was well underway when the car was dug up. Fortunately, the animals had gone to sleep around the car.

When Ed Bolian and the team behind the YouTube channel VinWiki arrived at the house in Atlanta where the car was stored, they were greeted by a terrifying sight.

Outside there are piles of rubbish which have to be moved before the car can even be reached. And at a dor, the men almost step on a dead squirrel.

– It feels as if no one has been here for a very long time, it says, among other things.

Inside the garage itself, the place is so infested with rodents and dirt that the VinWiki people think it's safest to wear overalls and masks as they move on. Whether it was just for the sake of the cameras, we should not be able to say.

But at least they come down in white overalls. In bright orange rubber gloves, they collectively dig their way to the rare Ford. However, an even bigger surprise awaits them. Against all odds, the car's V8 engine managed to get life.

In other words, the Ford GT was Ford's way of celebrating their own 100th anniversary. The car was first presented to the public in connection with the 2002 edition of the North American International Auto Show. Back then as the GT40 Concept.
