Ralf Schumacher comes out as gay

Former Toyota and BMW-Williams driver Ralf Schumacher has come out as gay in an unmistakable Instagram post.

The former Toyota and BMW-Williams driver Ralf Schumacher has told his nearly 200,000 followers in a post on his Instagram profile that he is gay.

Thus, Ralf Schumacher, who is the brother of the seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher, is one of the few racing drivers who tells publicly about their sexual orientation.

– One of the most beautiful things in this world is when you have the right person by your side. Someone you can share everything with, writes Schumacher in the post , where he and another man stand with their backs to the camera.

The only other Formula 1 driver who has spoken publicly about his homosexuality is Briton Mike Beuttler, who died in 1988. He competed in Formula 1 between 1971 and 1973.

Ralf Schumacher, who is 49 years old today, won six Formula 1 titles in his 11-year Formula 1 career, which ended in 2007. He was previously married to Cora Schumacher, with whom he has a son, David, 22.

Cora Schumacher was recently thrown out of a reality show because she threatened to tell the other contestants and thus the show's viewers about her former brother-in-law's condition.

Michael Schumacher was badly injured when he crashed on a skiing holiday in France in 2013. Since then, the family has been almost hermetically sealed when it comes to the star's condition. Read more about it here .
