Psychopaths prefer these cars, research shows

If you get a kick out of a 'noisy' outburst, yes – then you might be a psychopath or sadist with criminal behavior.

Psychopaths prefer engine noises. Or at least the kind you can get 'loud' out of an outburst.

This is shown by a new study from Western University in London.

Here it is concluded that 'noisy' cars attract certain personality types. More specifically those with psychopathic/sadistic traits.

It should not be understood that all psychopaths or sadists for that matter drive around in 'noisy' cars with internal combustion engines. Another survey also shows that some are behind the wheel of very specific electric cars. Read more about it here .

But back to the investigation from Western University. Julie Aitken Schermer, professor of psychology, is behind the investigation. And she does that because she wondered why drivers bother driving around in cars that make noise.

She tells CBC that.

Schermer's survey is based on a series of responses from 529 business students. Participants were asked to answer whether they were 'attracted' to loud car noises and whether they modified their own cars to get 'that' sound.

In the answers, Schermer then looked for four typically 'darker' personality traits: narcissism, psychopathy, sadism and ruthlessness.

Julie Aitken herself tells Schermer that she expected to find a connection between narcissism and a preference for car noise. But instead, she believes she has found signs of psychopathy and sadism.

However, the investigation must be taken with rather large reservations. First, it is carried out among students at the same university. Secondly, only a certain group of the same students were asked and only about their attitude towards cars with internal combustion engines.

There are other types of choir clothes. Even electric cars stand still. It's just in other ways. But what is your position? Share it with us in the comments section on Facebook!
