A few weeks ago, Kia in Norway had to retract a mockery of Tesla, now the Polestar importer is also trying to speak to Tesla owners in an alternative way.
It backfired when Kia in Norway tried to be funny at the expense of Tesla's decline. But now the Polestar importer is also trying to speak in slightly alternative terms to the same Tesla owners.
Because do you have a Testa? No, maybe not.
But that's how Polestar in Norway writes to its potential future customers nonetheless. And it's hardly a typo on the importer's part.
Kia had put a sticker with mocking text on the back of an EV3, Polestar doesn't go that far. But the Chinese-Swedish brand has nevertheless hidden a linguistic dispute in its latest advertisement.
– Do you have Testa? Try a Polestar today, writes the importer.
But the test drive isn't the only thing Polestar is offering. To avoid any legal battles, they're not directly targeting Tesla owners with their advertising. Instead, they're officially targeting everyone with an electric car.
And that's even with the offer of 20,000 Norwegian kroner in exchange discount. That's not a lot of money, though. In Norway, it actually only corresponds to 13,000 kroner.
In the US, however, Polestar is being different. Or at least direct. Here, Tesla owners have been told that they can get huge discounts by trading in their cars. In fact, up to 143,000 Danish kroner.
“The numbers speak for themselves. In the past week, we have experienced some of our best order days for Polestar 3, and the response to our Tesla Conquest offer has been significant,” said the brand’s US sales manager in early March.
